It's Ironic that I stumbled on this topic just now, because this subject has actually been on my mind this week.

My temperment leans toward sanguine, but I have a strong melancholoy streak, and have always wondered why. Since Sanguines aren't organized types, but melancholies are, one would think that the two personality traits would be mutually exclusive. Yet here they are.

Yet when I think about it, Packing has a lot to do with it.

You see, when I was 5, my parents divorced, yet I continued to live with both of them. The arrangement was that I spent one week with one, and then the next with the other. So packing for me tends to be thought of in terms of "do I have enough clean underwear to last the week?"

I suppose I'm thinking about this because one of my close friends has teenagers of her own, and at an age where I had packing down to "7 days of socks, 7 days of underwear, toothbrush and access to a laundraumat after the first week," she's still chasing her daughter down to make sure that she packed her cheerleading bloomers for after school practice.

I suppose maturity comes with experience, and experience with adventure. But if you wear the same outfit for 5 days in a row, people start to notice.

Hi Allison

I pack the night before I travel. During the few days preceding the trip, I check my needs. I do not travel very often but in my country , I have to pack two times each year.
In october I pack my summer clothes and in april I pact my winter clothes. I make this procedure with 2 plastic boxes and one hour is sufficient. This procedure is necessary because of the changing seasons are like a trip.
It is as if we changed of country. In few months, we go from 30c to minus 30c. I live in a country where I can see major
changes of scenery and lifestyle without having to move , but I must annually pack my clothes.
Last Sunday, in Montreal we received 45 cm of snow. It was the second snowstorm in 2 weeks. I spent several hours
to clear all this snow.
Do you buy your gifts at the last minute?
You are wonderfull in the last episode Gemini. Your scenes with Jimmy are amazing.
Your time on the screen after 9 episodes is 80 minutes compared to 77 minutes last season. Wow It's fantastic.
Take care of you and Merry Christmast.
Bye

Hi Allison,
what a funny question......in about 12 hours I am off to the airport, a 10,000 km flight home, for christmas. Same procedure every year: I don't sleep the night before (work, work, work....), and I pack exactly 15 minutes before I walk out the door. Hehe....
Happy Holidays to you, your family and friends,
Until next time.

I pack two nights before I travel, and then re-pack the night before. I always find that I've forgotten something, and that I've packed things that, on second thought, I don't really need.

Three things I always pack, whereever and whenever I travle: a sweater (it gets cold everywhere), a role of duct tape (it really does fix anything!), and a good book.

Well put! Your very right in your way of thinking. It makes you wonder how some people live out of their suitcases. The verse escapes me,
but I like "worry not about tommorrow for today has its own anxieties." Its just one less anxiety when you dont have to worry about packing. Thanks for the blogs, and I enjoyed taking your survey on a rare half a day off. But one question I had but didnt have time to write as I finished it. Unless your targeting a certain age group, as indicated, what do you consider over the hill? As I am 32, yet can work 17 hours a day and still run rings around you 20 something years old, just wondering. Any other bloggers who read this and havent done so, make sure to take Allison's survey! Keep up the good work, and unfortunately I have missed most of Smallville this year, definately not intentionally, but because of school and work. Good luck with your future business ventures, and God bless. Oh and Happy Holidays! From the Great Lake State.

Allison -

Depending on where I'm going, who I'm going with, and how long, it can be anywhere to weeks in advance to the morning I leave as the cab is pulling up to pick me up, lol. The latter is reminiscent of my most recent trip to NYC last May. Of course, I forgot deodorant, toothpaste, etc etc. So we went to the store and got some, no biggie. I'm way more lax in my packing than I was 10 years ago.

to add to my previous posting yesterday
anyway the important thing i wanted to mention was grew up for a few years in Vancouver, went to meet someone and it turned out to be a sad trip. Recognizing you made me forget at least for a while the sadness of my trip and I am glad you showed up there. I really do hope you personally read this and my previous posting. AND that I do hear from you-please reply to my email address posted!

Thanks Allison. I am a huge fan of the show and your acting. I didn't know you had a passion for singing too!

Heyy Alison :)

I'm kinda laid back but organised in packing things..
I pack 2 says before I go anywhere major ( 2wk vacation etc)

The first nite is wen i throw all the heavy stuff in and then the next nite, my wash kit (Shaver, toothbrush etc) and all the trivial stuff (magazines to read.) makes my life easier and I'm not rushing like my parents who do everything last minute these days.. so I can sit back and chill.. and not worry.

Maybe that says somethin about me.. who knows.?.
