ahh! technology

OK!

So, I am trying to make this cool, funky interesting video blog about how we made Crossed Wires, sort of following the whole process of creating the play and yadda yadda yadda! And I swear to you I spend about 3 hours… OK, that’s a lie, more like 1 hour or maybe 30 minutes trying to figure out how to do all the cool stuff I see in my head and on tv.

Oy! Learning something new is rough man, rough!

But stay tuned for my amazing creations :)

I gave up trying to figure out computers a while ago…ten years ago everything was so simple, lol. Beyond checking my e-mail and unloading pictures I’m kinda useless.

Keep at it — 30min to an hour isn’t THAT long. Everytime something frustrates me I try adding something I like to it, like putting on my headphones or eating a bowl of ice cream.

    Good luck ;)

    Hi Allison,

I hope you can realise all the stuff you see in your head. That’s always quite difficult. I know that. Sometimes I see something so fantastic and clear in my mind, but when it comes to realisation I’ve got my problems. Yet, I don’t give up until I could realise my creation… at least as good as I saw it in my mind… or even better. :-)

What can i say, my boss wanted me to be multiclass, now i’m working on a friends workplace, different area, and i’m on IT, so, yeah, i agree, learning is rough, but for some of us, is not an option, BTW, everytime i learn something new, something old goes away, slooooooowly, i had to re-learn what i was supposed to do today.

I remember the first time I ever looked at a computer and thought, “Pft, this is of no use to me unless I plan on working in an office the rest of my life!” Sitting here, typing this as a comment to your blog entry on the internet, it’s amusing to see how much that’s all changed. Also, the good thing about learning a computer program is even though it’s a pain to learn in the beginning (with the whole imagination versus limitations, like you mentioned), things just get more creative from there once you do. Good luck!

That’s the beauty of writing. The only thing you really need the computer for is to do the writing bit. It’s the creation of what you need to write, that’s the chore. So I guess you and I are in the same boat today, all of this stuff rambling around in our craniums and needing an outlet. Maybe another cup of coffee will help. ;)

I had an assignment once that kept me behind the computer for 72 hours straight (I got up occationally for food or washroom). With computer you have to learn how to love the process as well as result or you’ll never make it. And that love usually doesn’t come naturally.

    Hi Allison.

It is always the first time that it is difficult. After a few times it becomes automatic because it was not necessary to concentrate. Our learning is sometimes painful. Be patient is the key to success.
    Good luck.
Some technologies are easier to use. I use Windowmedia maker. I look forward to your videoblog.

Ah Allison I know just how you feel.I suck when it comes to computers and technology.I always have to ask my little sister how to use something. It usually makes me feel stupid. And when I ask her how she figured it out she responds “You just have to mess around with it”Normally she’s right,it’s just I’m the kind of person that likes to read a manual instead of just clicking anywhere.Though I guess that’s the reason I always take so long.30 minutes to an hour isn’t bad, sometimes I’ll take longer,so don’t feel bad.Your a really intelligent girl who can do anything she puts her mind to.

I am so glad you will be making a video blog on Crossed Wires. That really excites me.Hearing yout thoughts on the experiance will be so awesome.I know the tidbits on the video blogs following the days were really cool.I am really looking forward to seeing it,can’t wait till you post it.I’m sure it’s going to turn out fantastic.
