Thimble Lady

Ok, so I feel like Thumblina. I am the smallest girl in the world right now. My car feels too big, my house feels too big, the world feels huge. I have never been so aware of how small and insecure I feel most of the time. I look at the world around me, I look at the over inflated idea I have of myself and I look at the things that inspire me. The balloon pops, I fizzle when reality sets in.
But I am humbled, I am humbled and I am grateful.
My ego has been exposed as a facade and I am a much nicer person for it. It is funny, we ask for change, we seek it out, and yet once we find this change, we are surprised by the growing pains. So this Thumblina will tuck herself into her massive bed, count her blessings and thank each and every person in her life. In this big wide world it is nice to know you are not alone on the miniature shelf.
love love love
it’s all you need.

aahhh… I hope Bosely don’t look too Big!!ok…. yes it’s true…
all we need is love….
like this song…Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love.
There’s nothing you can do that can’t be done.
Nothing you can sing that can’t be sung.
Nothing you can say but you can learn how to play the game
It’s easy.
There’s nothing you can make that can’t be made.
No one you can save that can’t be saved.
Nothing you can do but you can learn how to be you
in time – It’s easy. All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.
Love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love, love.
All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.
There’s nothing you can know that isn’t known.
Nothing you can see that isn’t shown.
Nowhere you can be that isn’t where you’re meant to be.
It’s easy.
All you need is love, all you need is love,
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.
All you need is love (all together now)
All you need is love (everybody)
All you need is love, love, love is all you need.……………………………………………..

June 22nd, 2009 at 2:30 pmWell, I can certainly empathize with you Allison. Emotions can sure be a roller coaster ride at times. But I have found that even when the crazy world can’t help but to constantly bang on your door, counting blessings helps a lot. In fact I had been reading the quote, “Count your blessings, not your problems!” all last week.
However, when I start to count my blessings, I don’t feel small any more. It’s good that I am sensitive, I count that as a blessing even with the ups and the downs. But we must press forward, all of humanity needs our effort.

Listen, we all have those days from time to time. Even those of us who happen to be 6′4″ LOL. Those feelings of inadequate persona will pass by, and you’ll begin to feel better after you analyze “why” you felt like that. Believe me when I say that you are everything that we feel you are. And that’s one VERY special lady!! Love ya, love your show!!

I sent you a message to your MySpace concerning Disney-Pixar Flims and what they did “special” for one very ill little 10 yr old girl. I hope you get to read it and maybe it’ll change your perspective a little. It really touched my heart. It’s so beautiful and yet so sad.

June 22nd, 2009 at 3:10 pmAh, Thumblina
! A little sweet princess in a big-big world… But first she don’t know in her mind: this world is the old world and she want to get back in her old life, among her old things, her old dreams and ideas. But… she can’t reach them… Oh, but she know:
I must to learn, learn and more learn and understand this new-old. And come the inspiration and you grow up to the task! Without fear! Because you saw the smallest details too. And paralell you grow up in your own world too!I understand you, Allison: Nowadays I feel like Thumblina too. I want to grow up! And you?
Best of luck

June 22nd, 2009 at 8:17 pmWe all need a little humbling on occasion to keep us from thinking too highly of ourself. Does a body good to remember that no matter how good we think we are, we are actually only as good as others think we are. Not to worry. You are growing daily in your walk through life. Your blog shows well the person you are, and the person you are becoming. No one can ask for more.

June 22nd, 2009 at 8:18 pmWow! I wish I could say that I’m sorry you feel so humbled, but it’s great & healthy for us all to have a dose of that from time to time.
It’s good to take time to enjoy all that you have been blessed with in your life- nothing wrong with that.
As for change- you are so right! I have so much change going on all around me- I feel like the time frame I live in has paused, and the world around me has continued to spin.
I don’t know whats in store this next season of my life…its kinda scary, but some how I know that everything is going to be alright.
My heart/ prayers go out to you.
Chin up kid! We will be fine.

June 22nd, 2009 at 8:38 pm“Everything had changed suddenly-the tone, the moral climate; you didn’t know what to think, whom to listen to. As if all your life you had been led by the hand like a small child and suddenly you were on your own, you had to learn to walk by yourself. There was no one around, neither family nor people whose judgement you respected. At such a time you felt the need of committing yourself to something absolute-life or truth or beauty- of being ruled by it in place of the man-made rules that had been dicarded. You needed to surrender to some such ultimate purpose more fully, more unreservedly than you had ever done in the old familiar, peaceful days, in the old life that was now abolished and gone for good.”
-Boris Paternak,
Doctor ZhivagoI came across this passage in my reading today. It struck a very familiar chord for me.

June 23rd, 2009 at 9:35 pmDear Allison, you have made great changes in your life lately but the world in which you evolve has not changed. Your defense mechanisms that you have developed over the past 20 years made you to become this wonderful artist that we admire. What is important is not that you are nice but that you keep your personality. It is the personality that distinguishes people. It’s in the personality that we find honesty, transparence, compassion and ethics.
The changes should make us grow not shrink us.
The best way to thank those who inspire us is to inspire them by our behavior and yours actions.
Imitating others is reductive because it hinders our creativity and our ability to be ourselves.Allison, gives us news of your film.
Take care of you.
You are great!

You certainly had an effect on boz’s life. You have an effect on all of us. …and it’s a very good one! The art you make is interesting and fun (and lately, rather thought provoking). I think the artist must be also.
I will be the first to say I love a cozy bed, but when you get up tomorrow, the world will still be there, and there is art to be made. I believe you have the right stuff, and I am not the only one.

June 25th, 2009 at 12:10 pmIt may be when you feel the loneliest that you realise you are not, and that some people will always be there for you. At least when you’re in luck ! Then instead of disapearing, like you almost did a few moments ago, you find yourself stronger, clearer, almost reborned, cleaned as after heavy rain, glowing vibrantly from all the pain, now transformed to joy, like gold from coal, tears from nothingness. Under such a cohesive stroke of grace, so many friends gently waving as stars, such blissfull and purple skies of gratitude, you now know it is time to entam the archaic danse of human journey. And never looking back.
Well don’t know what took me… English is a rather dark continent to me, so… Not as much as women, but still ! Terra Incognita…
Take great care -

June 26th, 2009 at 12:58 pmThis is a good feeling to have, it is liberating to finally realize how we are like grains of sand in space in time. It takes a lot off one’s shoulders to know that the mistakes you make are minute and life should be enjoyed and lived to the fullest. For those who are not so comfortable about how small each and every one of us are, those who are comfortable will hopefully inspire you to do something great, something bigger than you so your existence makes a larger impact.
-
MichelleDiMartino Says:
June 26th, 2009 at 1:02 pmand to continue my comment, you are doing a great job at doing something to make a greater and longer lasting impression on the world. So even though we as humans are tiny, you show that you are only as small as your actions for humanity.

July 1st, 2009 at 10:04 amThumblina complex. Interesting concept – I like it.
As I reflect on my life I remember feeling small, insignificant and powerless as a child. I hated that feeling and at certain points throughout my life that feeling has returned, but I no longer resent or hate it. In my early twenties I felt empowered until something happened to change my circumstances and then I realized I had mistaken an over inflated ego for empowerment. Talk about feeling humbled.
Don’t worry or fret over feeling humbled. Humility is a good thing in that over time you will realize that people who maintain a sense of humility for most of their lives are able to keep the rest of the world and the other people in it in a clear perspective. Humility keeps the windshield from fogging up.

July 4th, 2009 at 9:07 amI went through that a few years ago too, and I am still going through it. But personally as a performer it’s hard to overcome the ego complex because the nature of our job is being in the spotlight, and after a while we like it, we like the attention. But being a humble performer at your level is such a huge impact in amateurs, to tell them no matter what shoes you wear, to always act the same. So keep it up, the more I read these kinds of blogs the higher respect I have for you.

July 17th, 2009 at 8:28 amHi Allison,
When I put myself through changes, I don’t have much pain for acceptance is my guiding light. I accept that change asks for losing something. I live reality. Henceforth there can’t be a popping big bubbling bubble for me. I am who I am and I live and show who I am. Masks and facades… well, yes, if necessary I use those for the better good, but I put them back aside as soon as they served their purpose. Yet using a masquerade is always an exception for me. The question is why do you need a facade? Don’t you like yourself? Well, it’s just an idea, but can it be that you think people wouldn’t like the person you really are? I mean, maybe you think you sort of have to be somebody else for people like you all the time. If so, forget about that for this is not necessary. It’s hard to be famous, I know, the more important it is to appreciate the little things. The love, friendship or admiration of a few people or a single person is much more meaningful/important than the admiration of thousands of people. However, a change means to change and not to mask yourself. No matter if you feel small or great – everybody is somebody and I think you have no reason to feel so insure and small. Stand by you and if you dislike the way you are, then change it – change, not mask.
Quote: “love love love it’s all you need.”
- It’s all WE need and so I’m sending much love to you.
