First of all to be compassionate you need to be understanding. Without being able to analyze and understand what someone is going through, one cannot be compassionate. Being a humanitarian goes hand in hand with being compassionate. Humanitarianism is impartial. Let me give you an example. Lets say there's this person that killed another person. You hear more about the killers story and how this person grew up and what they had to grow up around. Would you feel compassion for this fellow or not, because he killed someone? I would because I now know the troubles and hardships that may have lead to that. Does that mean I condone what he did? Nope. Neither would it prevent me from harboring negative feelings about what that person did. With compassion and humanitarianism, you don't necessarily have to be charitable, etc you don't really have to do anything at all. Once it is a part of you, it will start to effect everyone around you. It is the thought that counts. I have no idea if this is going to be read but here goes. Most of mine consists of random happenstance or whatever is in my head at the moment; a release so my mind doesn't wander. Every once in awhile, I'll have something mildly thought-provoking to say but I wouldn't go as far as to say it's deep by any means. I think there is alot of insight to what you write and that, to me, means I am learning something when I read. Sometimes I see blogs like this and, actually, wish I could write more like this. I wondered how they were going to pull it off. Well, I can now say that Im so glad I DID watch. SMallville is my favorite series. WHat an outstanding job the cast, crew, and Producers did. Also, after 8 seasons, one cast member really stands out, and is my favorite character....CHLOE Sullivan. Allison, this senior citizen has really fallen for you and your character. Tom is awesome, as are the other cast members, but it is YOU who really makes the show what it is. You are the glue that keeps it all together. You are an excellent actress. Thank you for ...... YOU! I would love to meet you someday but I would need Clark to save me from my wife's wrath..LOL. JK. You do have a great heart as proven on several occasions. I respect the whole Compassion attitude of yours as it's one of real merit and honor. I believe a wise man once said "If a man carries the weight of the world on his shoulders both he and the world he is trying to protect will be crushed" what i mean is theres no need to pressure yourself into showing what it is you believe in. I think it's obvious your fans,friends and admirers all believe in your philosophical views myself included. You don't need to prove to anyone that your a humanitarian no-ones expecting you to go and make a world of difference in every aspect of another persons life. Truth is i myself would feel lucky if i even just occasionally got to make someone feel a little bit better about themselves much less make a difference in how people view the world. There's a scene in the first quarter of the movie where Johnny Depp takes his love interest to a fancy restaurant. She comments that everyone is staring at her because she's wearing a 5 dollar dress. He tells her that these people are only concerned about where people have come from. He states it's more important to be concerned with where someone's going. I think it's very important that your trying to become this person you dream to be. Life's a process.
